Shalom! We welcome you to Congregation Beth Israel and invite you to join us at any of our many upcoming events to learn more about our congregational family. It is our hope that you’ll explore our community and feel comfortable to call us, ask us questions and inquire about participation. We encourage you to come see for yourselves. Stop by for a visit, join us at one of our services or try out any of our many diverse activities, no matter what your age or interests.

Congregation Beth Israel has a long and rich history in Texas. As the oldest Jewish congregation in Texas, its members were early builders of our great city. Beth Israel continues to lead the way in innovative programs and worship for modern Jews and their families. You are welcome to enjoy worship, study, social and community activities. Jewish and non-Jewish family members, alike, engage in helping build strong bonds to enduring Jewish values, rituals and deeds.

We want to meet you where you are on your Jewish path. From there we’ll walk together in all the ways we can make Jewish life relevant, meaningful and joyful together.

Our clergy and our congregational families look forward to being with you. On behalf of our rabbis, cantor and educators, welcome to Beth Israel!

The Hurricane Harvey Flood Fund

Hurricane Harvey left Houston and surrounding areas in a shambles, but the great people of Houston are banding together to help and heal. Your help is welcome and needed. You may send Gift Cards (Kroger, Target, HEB, Lowe’s, or Visa/Mastercard, etc.) to Congregation Beth Israel. They will be immediately distributed to area neighbors to assist in replacing essential items and children’s school supplies.

You may also Donate directly to Congregation Beth Israel by clicking here. All funds will go directly to aid those who need immediate help. These funds will NOT be held to be allocated later. On behalf of our clergy (Rabbi David Lyon, Rabbi Adrienne Scott, Rabbi Joshua Herman, Rabbi Chase Foster, and Cantor Trompeter), David Scott, Executive Director, and Bruce Levy, Temple President, we are very grateful for your kindness, generosity, and help.

Hurt has no shame and no label; we just need to heal one another.
