Congregation Beth Israel is committed to fostering a vibrant and meaningful youth culture. With the dedication of our children, parents, and staff, we offer a wide array of events, programs, and activities to meet every age and interest. Many of these experiences welcome the entire family, creating shared moments of learning, celebration, and connection. Each program is designed to help our youth build friendships, grow in community, and engage in a positive Jewish environment. The more you participate, the more you’ll gain—deepening your connection to others and strengthening the sense of congregational family that makes our community so special.

Youth Group

JYG (Beth Israel’s Junior Youth Group) is for 3rd-7th graders. Through fun, meaningful activities and events, children engage in creative social programming while deepening their connection to Jewish values and community. Check the calendar for upcoming events, or contact Kerri Zerlin, Assistant Director of the Miriam Browning Jewish Learning Center, at kzerlin@beth-israel.org or 713-771-6221.

Madrichim
Open to 8th-12th graders, our Madrichim program is our teen leadership initiative that takes place on Sunday mornings and Wednesday and Thursday afternoons during MBJLC, in partnership with Kehillah High—our post–b’nei mitzvah education program. As Madrichim, teens develop practical skills in classroom management, communication, and mentorship while serving as role models for younger MBJLC students. With a range of roles available, participants gain meaningful leadership experience that prepares them for active Jewish life beyond high school. For more information, click here.
