Friends of Margolis Gallery

The Margolis Gallery is a sublime space that overlooks the pristine Wolff-Toomim Meditation Garden. We present exceptional exhibitions free of charge to Temple members and the entire Houston community. The Gallery depends on “Friends” like you to support the gallery and our mission.

Friends of Margolis Gallery provides enrichment to Congregation Beth Israel and to the entire community through high-quality art exhibitions, educational programs and art acquisitions that enhance our congregational home. We also offer art tours around our well-endowed city, including collections of our own Beth Israel congregants. And, for those who enjoy venturing out of town, we will offer customized trips of utmost luxury and quality interests.

Membership in Friends of Margolis Gallery is currently available at an annual fee of $125 per person or $200 per couple. Many exciting events to come, including touring private collections of art.

Please feel free to contact Tanya Strum or Shirley Lavine for additional information.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Beth Israel Art Committee, please contact Sara Kaiser, (713) 771- 6221 x301.

COMING UP:

Our Crowd Collects: Israeli Artists
October 11th, 6:30pm

The Margolis Gallery committee members are busily curating an exciting assemblage of locally-owned pieces by Israeli artists, hand-picked from prized, private collections. The exhibit will feature a variety of two dimensional art of various media by famed Israeli artists, including oil paintings, watercolors, collage, and more. This exhibit is a “must see,” as this particular grouping will not be on display together again!

RSVP to Sara Kaiser, (713) 771-6221 x301.

The Hurricane Harvey Flood Fund

Hurricane Harvey left Houston and surrounding areas in a shambles, but the great people of Houston are banding together to help and heal. Your help is welcome and needed. You may send Gift Cards (Kroger, Target, HEB, Lowe’s, or Visa/Mastercard, etc.) to Congregation Beth Israel. They will be immediately distributed to area neighbors to assist in replacing essential items and children’s school supplies.

You may also Donate directly to Congregation Beth Israel by clicking here. All funds will go directly to aid those who need immediate help. These funds will NOT be held to be allocated later. On behalf of our clergy (Rabbi David Lyon, Rabbi Adrienne Scott, Rabbi Joshua Herman, Rabbi Chase Foster, and Cantor Trompeter), David Scott, Executive Director, and Bruce Levy, Temple President, we are very grateful for your kindness, generosity, and help.

Hurt has no shame and no label; we just need to heal one another.

Rabbi David Lyon
