Established in 1854, Congregation Beth Israel proudly stands as the oldest Jewish congregation in the state of Texas. While we take great pride in this tradition and the legacy that we have created, we’re still constantly exploring new, innovative ways to provide Reform Judaism support in Houston.

If you identify with non-Jewish family members, members of the LGBT community, and those converting, we design our resources to meet the carrying needs of our diverse, devoted congregation.

This starts early in The Shlenker School, an accredited elementary school that caters to children from Pre-K to fifth grade. We’re also home to the Miriam Browning Jewish learning centers, where we host an even larger range of learning programs.
