Reform Judaism Support in Houston

We invite all to explore the resources we provide here at Congregation Beth Israel, such as Houston Reform Judaism support.

Established in 1854, Congregation Beth Israel proudly stands as the oldest Jewish congregation in the state of Texas. While we take great pride in this tradition and the legacy that we have created, we’re still constantly exploring new, innovative ways to provide Reform Judaism support in Houston.

Core Values for Reform Judaism Support in Houston

Rooted in the foundational teachings of the Torah, there are a number of core values that our clergy has adopted and they help us steer our organization and its direction in the community. Here at Congregation Beth Israel, we stress:

Inclusion: We strive to provide plentiful Houston reform Judaism resources for men, women, and children of all walks of life. If you identify with non-Jewish family members, members of the LGBT community, and those converting, we design our resources to meet the carrying needs of our diverse, devoted congregation.

Learning: One of the reform Judaism resources in Houston that people value most is the extensive opportunity to learn. This starts early in The Shlenker School, an accredited elementary school that caters to children from Pre-K to fifth grade. We’re also home to the Miriam Browning Jewish learning centers, where we host an even larger range of learning programs.

Serving the community: Our Houston reform Judaism support is designed to benefit both our congregates and the community as a whole. With a large, robust congregation, we have the resources to make a big difference in the community.

We also offer reform Judaism support in Houston that comes in the form of memorable life events – funerals, weddings, conversions, Bar Mitzvah, Bat Mitzvah, and more.

The Hurricane Harvey Flood Fund

Hurricane Harvey left Houston and surrounding areas in a shambles, but the great people of Houston are banding together to help and heal. Your help is welcome and needed. You may send Gift Cards (Kroger, Target, HEB, Lowe’s, or Visa/Mastercard, etc.) to Congregation Beth Israel. They will be immediately distributed to area neighbors to assist in replacing essential items and children’s school supplies.

You may also Donate directly to Congregation Beth Israel by clicking here. All funds will go directly to aid those who need immediate help. These funds will NOT be held to be allocated later. On behalf of our clergy (Rabbi David Lyon, Rabbi Adrienne Scott, Rabbi Joshua Herman, Rabbi Chase Foster, and Cantor Trompeter), David Scott, Executive Director, and Bruce Levy, Temple President, we are very grateful for your kindness, generosity, and help.

Hurt has no shame and no label; we just need to heal one another.
