Miriam Browning Jewish Learning Center
When you register for the MBJLC as an 8th-12th grader, you will automatically be enrolled in Kehillah High. You will also have the option to participate in our Madrichim Jewish Leadership program.
Kehillah High is the Greater Houston area’s premier, community Jewish education program for teens in 8th to 12th grade. Entering its seventh year, Kehillah High is the place where Jewish learning comes to life! We are pleased to offer a comprehensive Jewish studies curriculum with experiential learning opportunities for every grade level. Kehillah High brings together the best elements of our community to provide transformational experiences for our teens. Through Kehillah High’s dynamic and engaging environment, teens grow together as a community and individually as they continue their Jewish journeys.

Madrichim Teen Leaders
All post-B’nei Mitzvah students in the Temple are eligible to participate in our Madrichim program. These 8th-12th graders are Beth Israel’s teen leaders, and in order to participate in Madrichim, registration in Kehillah High is required. Madrich is a “guide” in Hebrew, and we encourage our teens who serve as Madrichim to view themselves as guides to our students on their own Jewish journeys.
The Madrichim program is an opportunity to cultivate Jewish leaders, focus on social justice issues, and learn how to educate large groups of students. Our Madrichim serve as helpers to our MBJLC faculty, assisting with assignments, teaching classroom lessons, leading activities, reading stories, and engaging children who need extra help. In addition, we also offer either community-service hours or a financial stipend to our Madrichim, which partially offsets the cost of tuition.
