SUMMARY:Mitzvah Day
DESCRIPTION:Being that 2020  is an unique and challenging year\, volunteering in person is not a reality . We have worked diligently on your behalf with Ronald McDonald house to share some options to choose from\, which are rewarding and safe and for some of them\, you will never have to leave your house to perform this mitzvah and give back on December 25th.\n\nPlease review the options below and let Laurie Selzer know which option you choose. \nOption 1.\nGift cards to any take out place at any level you please.  You can buy a gift card at any amount and make a simple card to say happy Holidays.  Put your email address if you want a response. Great project for kids.   Heather and I are happy to take the cards to RMH for you on Christmas Eve.   WE will list your name with the office so that you receive full acknowledgement of your gift.\nThis is what it costs out of pocket for the residents to eat for a family of 4:\nOne day – $40\nOne week – $160\nOne month – $500 \nOption 2:\nIn the past\, patients and their siblings could go into the art room and use the art supplies as some downtime therapy. Due to Covid\, they are unable to share supplies.  RMH needs “to go” bags that they can give children when they arrive to have their own special art bag.  This is a great project for you to do with your children.   Each brown lunch bag ideally should contain one or more of the following:\nscissors\nglue stick\nmarkers or crayons\nlittle paints/brushes\ncolored pencils.\nJust fill a brown lunch bag with any of the above \, make a cute card to say happy holidays\, or Welcome To Texas or Welcome to Houston and sign your name.  Fold the top of the bag over.  Make as many as you would like and give Heather or I a call and we will come pick them up at your house or if you are near by\, drop them at ours.  We will deliver the bags to RMH on your behalf.   You can also include an email address as many of the families would like to say thank you.   We will give your name to the donation office so you will receive full acknowledgment. \nOption 3:\nWhen a mother/father head to the hospital to be with their child all day \, the food at the hospital can get costly. RMH likes to give out grab and go meals.  These are brown lunch bags filled with a bottle of water\, and any of the following items ( all must be pre packaged and nothing fresh from your house or anything perishable ). They are asking to include in each bag a few of the following to complete a meal:  microwavable macaroni and cheese\, ramen\,  soup\, chicken or tuna kits to go\, fruit cups\, chips\, cookie\, trail mix\, bottle water.   You can buy these items by the case at Costco /Sams and make about 12 bags.  Another great family project . Please make a fun card to put in it to wishing you a good day\, or welcome to Houston \,   Give us a call and we will deliver your gift to RMH on your behalf and alerting the donation office so you will receive full acknowledgement. \nOption 4.\nWE have found a nearby restaurant /café that will prepare a holiday meal to be picked up by us and delivered to RMH on Christmas Day. We will have a list of the items to choose from and all you have to do is call the restaurant \, let them know what you would like to contribute too and we will do the rest ( may need a few of you to actually help us deliver the meals safely outside RMH).  We hope to get enough food covered to deliver for lunch and dinner to about 50-75 guests.
