Perhaps no life cycle event is filled with as much anticipation and anxiety as becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. With all the Religious school and Hebrew classes, practices, meetings with the clergy, mitzvah projects, party planning and coordination, the year preceding the day your child is called to read from the Torah is packed with activity.
Planning begins two years before your child becomes a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Students must be enrolled in our Religious School or the Shlenker School. Adult members who were unable to celebrate their own passage into adulthood at age 13, and wish to experience the joy of becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah may consult with our clergy and choose to join our Basic Judaism class.
Beth Israel also has many wonderful rooms to accommodate your family and friends for a special Shabbat dinner or Kiddush luncheon celebration. Contact our Event Coordinator Karen Taylor at (713) 771-6221, ext. 336, or email eventcoordinator@beth-israel.org.
