Hospital Visits Support & Counseling
Hospital Visits

A caring congregation is measured by its response to your urgent needs. When you or a loved one is in the hospital, the presence of your rabbis and cantor can be a source of courage, trust and hope. Beth Israel’s rabbis and cantor make regular visits to area hospitals every week as part of their commitment to you and your family. This includes visits to members hospitalized in the Texas Medical Center and Memorial Southwest hospitals. Patient Privacy laws do not allow hospitals to notify us of those wishing a clergy visit. If you or a loved one are hospitalized or know of another member who is, please help us care for you and for them by contacting us through our Temple’s main office.

To request a hospital visit from one of our clergy, please call (713) 771-6221 ext. 311 or email to let us know which hospital you are in and where we may find you so that we may share our prayers with you for your health and well-being.

In addition, we have the Hospital Visitation Committee a group of caring Temple members who also volunteer their time to perform the mitzvot of visiting hospitalized members.

It is essential that you notify the Temple when a loved one is in the hospital if you wish to request a visit from the rabbis, cantor or members of the Hospital Visitation Committee. Many area hospitals no longer provide notification. Please call at (713) 771-6221, ext. 311.
