The Library Committee is delighted to announce the revival of the Book Club, meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 1:30 p.m. in the BOARD ROOM. All congregants and friends are welcome to join this convivial group.
The September 16th meeting featured "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer. The lively meeting was enhanced by Tobye Joachim's interesting background information of the history and geography of Guernsey, plus a biography of the author and editor. Shep and Beverley Curelop led the discussion, and were,as always, well prepared and informative. Librarian, Judy Weidman, prepared a potato peel pie, which was predictably less-than-delicious, due to the war-time recipe.
Our Readers' Group welcomed author Dara Horn on April 21 in a live teleconference. She answered our questions about her novel "All Other Nights", and discussed in detail the parallels between her character Jacob with the biblical Jacob.
Check out the listings for upcoming meetings, including our popular discussions led by the Beth Israel clergy.
