Confirmation
Our formal Jewish education does not end with becoming B’nai Mitzvah. At the end of tenth grade in Religious School, our youth celebrate the next step, publicly affirming of their commitment to live as Jews. Confirmation is held on Shavuot, the festival that marks the receiving of the Torah by Moses at Sinai. Confirmands help lead the services, read from the Torah and give short speeches on related topics. Then one by one, each is called to the ark to receive a special blessing from the Rabbi. A dinner for Confirmands and their family and friends is also held to celebrate the completion of Confirmation and this additional special milestone in their lives.
