Congregation Beth Israel is a Reform Jewish congregation of more than 1700 households from throughout the greater Houston area. We are located in southwest Houston, convenient to downtown, the Medical Center, Galleria, and central and west Houston with easy freeway accessibility. Beth Israel maintains an active affiliation with the Union for Reform Judaism, the national Reform movement. 

Members participate in weekly Shabbat services, Torah study, and a multitude of ongoing educational, cultural, and social programming for all ages. Our Religious School has more than 500 students led by a dedicated staff committed to creating a fulfilling, meaningful, and fun educational experience for our students.

Beth Israel has also been a leader in the Reform Jewish Day School movement, opening The Shlenker School in 1984, one of the first in North America and the first in Texas. Shlenker provides a fully accredited, academically excellent education with integrated secular and Judaic studies for students from ages 15 months through fifth grade.

We have a beautiful facility, recently renovated, that includes a large Sanctuary and more intimate chapel, one of the finest Judaic libraries in the Southwest with over 18,000 volumes, a meditation garden and courtyard, our Religious School, The Shlenker School, and an amazing array of rooms perfect for all types of meetings and life cycle events.  We welcome all who wish to be members and strive to meet our members’ needs by offering a broad range of services, programs and educational and social opportunities.
