Worship & Lifecycle

By Kindergarten, your child can find the Afikomen in your best hiding place, has a mini-Hebrew vocabulary and loves Matzoh Ball soup for Shabbat dinner and challah French toast every Saturday morning. Nurturing a strong Jewish identity in your child includes an early rite of passage igniting a love of Jewish learning: the consecration ceremony marking the beginning of a formal Jewish education. Taking center stage on the bimah, your child will be blessed and instructed by the rabbi and receive a torah scroll of his very own to commemorate this turning point in his life. This occurs in the fall to coincide with Simchat Torah, the time we begin to read the Torah from its beginning again. This usually falls when your child has entered kindergarten. Contact the MBJLC office with any questions regarding consecration.
