HAPPENING THIS WEEK |
OUR SANCTUARY IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION
It's time to renovate the sanctuary. Since the flooding of recent times,
which damaged the sanctuary, underground repairs have been completed. Now, the
sanctuary is dry and ready. An able team has lent their expertise in design and decor to prepare the sanctuary for renovations and reveal. On January 20,
2017, Down Home Shabbat, a special musical and new member
service, we will reveal our brand new Sanctuary space, beginning with a
ribbon-cutting ceremony, with Mayor Turner.
GIVING BACK DURING THE HOLIDAYS
Beth Israel's Social Justice committee has organized several
opportunities to give back to our community over the holiday season. As
we enjoy time with friends and family over the holiday season, we remember that
there are many who need our help to feel the joy that this time of year affords
so many. Please click
here to sign up for one or more opportunities to give back over the holiday
season. For more information on these volunteer opportunities, please
contact Rabbi Herman at jherman@beth-israel.org.

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT
GROUP TO BEGIN
ON JANUARY 31, 2017
The "W.A.Y.S." (With AllYour Soul) Committee of Congregation Beth Israel invites all who
have experienced the recent loss of a loved one to join its Bereavement
Support Group beginning January 31. The group will meet on Tuesday evenings
from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Beth Israel, and continue for six weeks. This group will be led by Judith
Katzman, M.A., L.M.F.T., a licensed psychotherapist, with a special
interest in death and dying, and grief support for those living with loss. Ms.
Katzman has over 20 years of experience facilitating bereavement groups. She
will provide a warm, supportive environment, as well as educational information
on the grieving process and recovery from one of life's most difficult
passages. Bereavement groups are not "drop-in"
groups; Participants are asked to attend consistently and new members will not
be added after the group begins. Confidentiality is a key component of this
process. Anyone who has experienced a recent loss is
welcome to attend. There is a $36 fee charged for non-members and there is no
charge for members. For more information or to enroll, please contact Rabbi
Adrienne Scott at (713) 771-6221 X329 or lcollins@beth-israel.org.
